Sun Sea Skis is a sailing site for people who would rather be on the water than reading about it. The guides here cover learning to sail, buying and keeping a boat, what the whole thing actually costs, where to go, and the gear that earns its place aboard.
Most sailing writing falls into one of two traps. It either assumes you already know what a cunningham is, or it is so careful not to frighten you that it never tells you anything useful. We try to sit between the two: explain the thing properly, say what it costs, and admit when the honest answer is that it depends.

How These Articles Are Written
A few rules apply to everything published here, and they are worth stating plainly because they are the reason to trust any of it.
Numbers come with a source and a date. Prices move, regulations change and a figure without a year attached is close to useless. Where we give a cost it is a range, and where a rule comes from an authority we say which one.
Nothing here is paid placement. No manufacturer has bought a mention, a ranking or a kind word. If that ever changes, it will be labelled on the page itself and not buried in a disclosure nobody reads. How the site does make money is set out in the affiliate disclosure.
The calculators show their working. Every tool on the site prints the formula it used and the assumptions behind it. A calculator that hands you a number and refuses to say where it came from is asking for trust it has not earned.
Photographs are licence-checked. Images are public domain or openly licensed, and where a licence asks for credit the photographer is named under the picture. Nothing is lifted.
Articles get corrected. Sailing information goes stale, and some of it was wrong to begin with. If you find an error, tell us and we will fix it rather than quietly leave it up.

Sun Sea Skis is written and edited by Saiful Emon. Where an article draws on something beyond direct experience, it says so and points at the source rather than dressing up research as first-hand knowledge.
A Word on Safety
The guides here are written carefully, but they are not a substitute for training, for local knowledge, or for the judgement of whoever is responsible for the boat. Weather, tides and traffic do not read websites. Take a course, sail with people who know more than you, and treat anything you read here as a starting point rather than an instruction.
